Travel and Accommodation

The costs of registration, transportation, hotels and other expenses are each delegate’s responsibility.

We have put together a selected list of recommended hotels both close to the venue and a bit farther out and input them on the Google Map below. Unfortunately, student dormitories are not available for delegates to be rented as they are occupied by students from Syracuse University during the academic year.

Accommodation options vary depending on the budget, catering to different preferences and needs. Please contact the hotels directly for the most up-to-date pricing and availability. The hotels are divided into different three categories: Hotel Zone A, Hotel Zone B and Hotels Premier.

Hotel Zone A: This zone encompasses the area around I-81, stretching from the Syracuse Airport to the University area. Here, you will find the majority of our commercial and hospitality businesses, as well as the Amtrak Train Station and national bus lines. This zone is central to the “20-minute City” concept, making it easily accessible by car and Centro buses. Hotel Zone A features the most frequently booked hotels for events at the University and within the City.

Hotel Zone B: This area primarily serves the large corporations and factories in the eastern part of the city. The hotels here are clustered in a region known as “Carrier Circle,” forming a walkable complex. While the Centro bus system services this area and offers routes into the city, the trip can take between one to one and a half hours. Hotel Zone B is more economical but less convenient for reaching downtown and the University area.

Hotels Premier: These hotels are separated out of the Zone’s as they are the 3- and 4-star hotels in the Syracuse area. The Marriott Syracuse, formerly the famed Hotel Syracuse, in downtown Syracuse, is the nicest hotel in the city. The Craftsman, in the upscale Fayetteville area, while the furthest from campus, is the premier destination hotel in relation to the city.

For other options, there is also Airbnb and Booking.com.

Please note that the correct address of the Maxwell School at Syracuse University is 110 Crouse Drive, Syracuse NY 13244.

Delegates are advised to book their accommodation as early as possible because during the weekend of the conference, there will also be an alumni event happening in Syracuse, therefore, a number of the accommodation options may already be booked.

Please note that there will be limited parking options close to campus as a result of an alumni event that is taking place simultaneously with the CESS Conference. Therefore, visitors are advised to carpool and use rideshare options as much as possible.
