Serve on the CESS Communications Committee

Join CESS’ Communications Committee now to help share the important work the Society is doing and support our vibrant community of scholars, practitioners, and organizations.

The Communications Committee is responsible for designing and implementing CESS’s communications strategy, including outreach to Society members and the general public. The committee manages the CESS Blog, social media, and other communications efforts.

The Central Eurasian Studies Society (CESS) invites interested members to serve on the Society’s Communications Committee. This is an important service in support of CESS’s vibrant community of scholars, practitioners, and organizations.

As part of the Committee, you will be asked to:

  • Attend virtual monthly meetings (or more often, if you would like)
  • Support the implementation of CESS communications strategy
  • Help the committee in designing engaging newsletters
  • Brainstorm other outreach options

To apply, please email a current CV and a statement (up to one page) to media@centraleurasia.org. In addition to introducing yourself, the statement of interest will respond to the following questions:

  • Why are you excited about being on the Communications Committee?
  • What perspectives, skills, and contributions do you bring to the committee?

The deadline for submissions is Februrary 15, 2023. The term of service is one year, through December 2023. Note: this is an unpaid position. Only current CESS members are eligible to apply.

Membership includes Barbara Junisbai (chair), Inge Snip (Director of Communications), and Katia Clod-Svensson (Society Administrator). The committee is a creative, collaborative team made up of folks passionate about supporting CESS as a vibrant membership-based organization, promoting CESS members’ profiles and work, and raising interest in Central Eurasia.
