CESS Book Award

The shortlist for the CESS book award has been agreed.  The 2012 award will go to a book in the social sciences.  Six books were chosen from fourteen excellent submissions.

The short-listed books are:

Jones-Luong and Weinthal, OIL IS NOT A CURSE, Cambridge UP.

McGlinchey, CHAOS, VIOLENCE, DYNASTY, Pitt UP
Pedersen, NOT QUITE SHAMANS, Cornell UP

Radnitz, WEAPONS OF THE WEALTHY Cornell UP
Rasanayagam, ISLAM IN POST-SOVIET UZBEKISTAN, Cambridge UP

Trevisani, LAND AND POWER IN KHOREZM, Lit Verlag

 

The panel is comprised of Paul Stronski, Bhavna Dave and David Montgomery with John Heathershaw acting as a non-voting chair.  The winner of the award will be announced at the CESS annual conference in October 2012.
